Sorta New Music Alert: Clint Vines & The Hard Times "Runnin' Round"
A re-released Vines track finds the spotlight
It seems like new music from Texoma artists is coming faster and a little more frequently in 2024, with new releases out by Zack Crow, Jay Burnam, Anthony Castillo and Lone Star Mojo, among others. In addition, we know there are new tracks by artists like The Fleeting Romance and Blank Labels on the way, too.
Not one to sit out the party, Clint Vines recently treated us to a re-released track, Runnin’ Round, recorded by Wichita Falls’ Kelly Kintner, and featuring Vines’ brother Westin, on banjo, bass, and harmonies.
We found Runnin’ Round to be a cool track with hints of classic Dr. Hook and the Medicine Show. Vines characterizes Runnin’ Round as “just a fun song I wrote casually and decided to put out with a lazy bluegrass feel.” On the song’s subject matter — a polyamorous situation — Vines said ”It wasn't anything that happened in my life. Just a story that I've seen a few times.”
There is a lot of new music coming soon from Clint Vines & The Hard Times; new tracks plus re-released live tunes and previously unreleased songs. “The upcoming releases are from the original band members, Taylor Labrum, Dru Gid and Joey Kittrell and is our first actual recording,” Vines said.
“We put out a few songs of it a while back in 2018 and we ended up taking them down because we wanted studio versions of everything first. Well now all those guys have left the band and we all agreed to go ahead and put out whatever we have recorded.”
Regarding studio recordings, Vines said “We have some studio stuff that I do intend on releasing, however I will be re-recording my vocals on them.” Those selections are expected later in 2024.
Runnin’ Round is available now on Vines’ YouTube channel, Apple Music, and coming any minute to his Spotify channel. Don’t forget to click ‘Follow’ on the platform of your choice.
