Them Dirty Roses at the Burn Shop Block Party
A steak cookoff and live music to benefit the Wichita Falls Police and Fire Associations
Them Dirty Roses headlined the Burn Shop Block Party and Steak Cookoff to benefit the Wichita Falls Fire and Police Associations at 9th and Ohio last night, and if you weren’t there, you missed one of the best bands I’ve seen come through Wichita Falls in 2023.
Them Dirty Roses come from Alabama by way of Nashville and they are what I would call hard country, straddling the line between rock and country, although their following is mostly in the country camp. Them Dirty Roses has over a million monthly listeners on Spotify, and their most popular track, Cocaine and Whiskey, has 49-million listens.

At numerous points during the show, vocalist James Ford and guitarist Andrew Davis could be seen pointing to a sound tech offstage to adjust their monitor mix, and there was a short pause in the show, too, when something popped and everything but the guitar and drums dropped out. It took about 5 minutes to remedy the problem and Them Dirty Roses got back to the task at hand and put on a great show, despite struggles with the sound.

The winner of the steak cookoff donated his winnings back to the benefit for the fire and police and I’m pretty sure nobody went home hungry, including me. The Burn Shop Block Party is definitely an event I’ll put on my agenda for next year.

I’ll have photos of opening acts Matt Williams and The Huser Brothers band in a future story. Did you see the Them Dirty Roses show? Let us know what you thought in the comments.

I was there! I was part of the committee so I had the privilege of hanging out with and tending to the necessities of the bands in the “Green Room” above Iron Society, all great guys and fantastic musicians. Them Dirty Roses did not disappoint, even keeping us entertained through the equipment troubles! It was a great night with excellent food and company! Shout out to all the cooks that provided an amazing meal, job well done.
