The Incomparable All Funk Radio Show
Back for another incredible show at Bud Daniel Park
Dallas/Fort Worth’s All Funk Radio Show returned to Bud Daniel Park, courtesy Wichita Falls Parks & Rec, and as we’ve become accustomed, they put on a show that made it impossible to sit still.

Micki Sweet, Monica Jones and Candi Bleu, AFR’s three ladies in front, captivated the crowd of several hundred from the first note with their renditions of everything from 1960s dance numbers to present day R&B. In fact, they did such a good job, some of us didn’t even notice the absence of AFR’s male singer, Eric Jordan, who missed the show due to a scheduling mixup.

All Funk has a full horn section that includes Marc Wilson, Jamada Holoman, and John Barber, and they had two new guitarists this year, too, Jay Cober and Courtney Boyd.
I asked bassist and bandleader Thad Jackson about AFR’s lineup and he told me it can change from show to show, with different members assuming a role depending on when and where a show takes place.

During the show, Jackson told the crowd AFR considers Wichita Falls their second home, and the crowd applauded and cheered like the feeling was mutual.

Just as they did last year, AFR came clothed in camouflage gear in tribute to our serving men and women, many of whom were in attendance.
I chatted with Karen Robinson from Wichita Falls Parks & Rec and she told me AFR is always one of their best-attended shows during the Summer Concert Series.
These free concerts in the park are like oxygen for many of us, and if you missed this one, you’ll have another chance to catch Oklahoma’s stellar country rock artist Zack Crow on May 28th.
