This is the first installment in our ongoing series The Fringe: a spotlight on artists from the surrounding area, including Denton, Plano, Lawton, OKC and DFW, among others.
Nate Martinez is a 27-year old singer-songwriter originally from Victoria, Texas, now living in Denton and preparing new material as Ever So Slightly. Martinez told me he has played in many bands in the DFW-area over the years but he “got tired of them breaking up and having to start over again and again.” Now solo, Martinez told me he writes all the music himself.
Ever So Slightly’s first single, Picnic, came out in the fall of 2022 and is refreshing in it’s poppiness and ignites visions of a romantic date… a convertible… a glass of wine. Martinez tells me his second single, Hypnotized, is due out any time now, and although Ever So Slightly has not played any live gigs yet, that is coming in the fall, and Nate intends to have a live backing band.
I’ll be keeping my eyes open for any live dates by Ever So Slightly in Wichita Falls, because it’s a mainstream pop show I’d like to see, and Nate Martinez is onto something.
