Single Alert: Downtown Royalty Band's "Blue"
Giving thanks for a new single from DTR
Wichita Falls’ Downtown Royalty Band has released a brand new single, Blue, and theFUSE dipped into vocalist Michael Kately’s DMs to get the lowdown on the track.
Blue is a modern but blues-music influenced lament about seeing your former flame with another person. “It’s a true story, about how my heart became jaded from the toxicity of hook up culture,” Kately says. “I broke some hearts, and I guess it came back around to me.”
The climactic moment of the chorus is powerful and emotional:
I can’t keep be being blue
But lately blue’s my favorite color
I can’t keep seeing you…
With others
Musicians on the song include Mark Forehand on rhythm guitar and vocal harmonies, and Files Little on bass and backing vocals. Lead and rhythm guitar were supplied by Derrick Kuehner. Brandon Mundt played drums, Michael Kately sang lead vocals and furnished rhythm and lead guitar, and Taylor Tatsch played the keys.

Downtown Royalty Band’s “Blue” was recorded by Taylor Tatsch at Audio Styles studio, and mixed and mastered by Derrick Kuehner.
Blue is available now wherever you stream music. Support local music by following Downtown Royalty Band on Spotify.
