We’re back with another installment of the Red River Playlist, a collection of songs for your enjoyment from Texoma artists and beyond.
Red River Playlist No. 3 includes songs from the country, Red Dirt, and rock genres, from some artists you might know, and a few you probably don’t.
LanceBattalion, a band from Burleson, Texas, checks in with their first recorded single — Pretty Woman — a southern rock track that owes a debt to Skynyrd and the Allman Brothers. It’s incredibly impressive considering two members of the group just celebrated their 20th birthdays a week ago.
Frontier Families, a new group comprised of Wichita Falls singer/songwriters Jay Burnam and Darion Ryan Roberts, has released a strong pop rock entry for the playlist with Static Legs. Give it a listen.
We’ve been remiss in including a few tracks from the now-defunct Wichita Falls group Tate & the Bedwetters on previous playlists. Check out the talent from singer/guitarist Devin Davis on Due Date. It’s mindblowingly good, and we’re thrilled to hear he has big news and a new musical project coming soon.
Passengers Unknown is a rock band from East Texas (Tyler-area, we’re told) and they have three singles available to stream, most notably the incredible Feel. This band has a compellingly unique and original sound that shows real potential.
Ghosts of Gray County bills themselves as an alternative rock band out of Pampa, Texas, but you’ll hear plenty of country influence in their track Livin’ Life (One Bottle at a Time), and it is great.
Wichita Falls metal band The Fleeting Romance are back with their first single in awhile, and it was worth the wait. Liar, Liar was written by singer and guitarist Brandt Holmes and produced by drummer Billy Pennington. Put this one on eleven.
Red River Playlist No. 3 also includes a couple selections from the incredibly talented Granbury, Texas musician Rob Brooks, a fast-rising rocker with great songwriting, plus red dirt rock from Okies The Smokin’ Oaks, traditional country from Eb Steward, red dirt rock from Fritch, Texas’ The Stray Sons, and more.
Do you know these artists? We hope you find something to love on Red River Playlist No. 3. Don’t forget to support these artists by following them on your favorite streaming platform, and add their songs to your favorite playlist to give them some spins. Watch for another Red River Playlist last Friday of every month!
