Open Mic Night with The March Divide
Clint Vines introduces us to another stellar artist
This is becoming a habit. A month ago, Clint Vines hosted Open Mic Night at The Iron Horse Pub and introduced us to the outstanding Whiskey Runners. This month, Clint hosted Open Mic Night again, with a special feature performance by Jared Putnam, also known as The March Divide, and we were wowed by what we saw and heard.
Jared and The March Divide have been around for more than a decade, and this Fort Worth resident by-way-of San Antonio has been building a following steadily with punchy, hook-laden songs with a hint of punk and a turn-of-the-millennium college radio sound. Jared has a professed love for artists like The Gin Blossoms, and you can hear the influence in his songs — tunes that encourage you to tap your foot, move in your seat, and get up and dance.

As of this writing The March Divide’s “Secrets” has more than 1.2 million streams on Spotify alone and is an amazing, introspective meditation which resonates with anyone who has lived through a relationship in peril. By contrast, “Drug That I Can’t Quit,” is a singalong track in which the happy, bouncy tempo belies a similarly difficult relationship.
If you find Jared’s music on your favorite streaming platform [Spotify | Apple] and add it to your favorite pop rock playlist, you’ll find it fits right in. Be warned, though, The March Divide’s songs are earworms, and you may end up singing them all day.
