New Single: Them Dirty Roses "Candle in the Dark"
Alabama quartet leans into a heavy southern rock sound
Alabama’s Them Dirty Roses headlined The Burn Shop Block Party in Wichita Falls last summer and showed us why they have nearly 900,000 monthly listeners on Spotify — their blend of hard country and southern rock sounds is compelling and irresistible to fans of both genres. The Roses’ biggest single to date — Cocaine and Whiskey [Spotify | Apple Music] — from their 2017 debut album, has 62-million listens and displays frontman James Ford’s melodic sensibility and penchant for relatable lyrics on universal themes of love and breakups.
Jump to present day and the boys from Alabama seem to be leaning into a harder, southern rock sound akin to bands like Blackberry Smoke and Black Stone Cherry with their newest single, Candle in the Dark. Take a listen on Spotify or Apple Music.
Going back to 70s and 80s southern rock, a well-versed listener likely hears hints of Blackfoot, The Allman Brothers, and Marshall Tucker Band in the dirty, amplified sound of a group now calling Nashville home.
Them Dirty Roses consists of brothers James Ford on guitar and vocals and Frank on drums, plus lead guitarist Andrew Davis and bassist Ben Crain.
