Live and Local: It Hurts to Be Dead
Local punk legends debut new music at the Iron Horse Pub
Since we first saw It Hurts to Be Dead perform at their Dystopian Graffiti EP-Release party, we’ve kept this Wichita Falls punk band on our radar, and when we see them playing, we try to make it, because It Hurts to Be Dead brings it, every time.
This gig was part of Punk Night, with Dallas’ Down to Friend and headliners, Wichita Falls’ much-vaunted punk group Ladybird.
We heard a lot of IHTBD fan favorites at this show, like Snake Oil, Roaring 20s, Phantom Pain and Mollie Marie, but we thought the highlight of this show was the final track, a brand new and as-yet-unrecorded single called In Surrender. Our first impression: it leans into rock attitude a little bit, and overall the song calls a slightly heavier and more mainstream rock vibe to mind while preserving the group’s punk ethos. Catch it live if you can, and follow IHTBD on your favorite streaming channel [Spotify | Apple Music] so you don’t miss their upcoming releases.
