Every artist has an array of social media channels. Follow them on every platform you use — Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, X, and others. No artist likes to hear, “Oh, I wish I’d known this was happening.” The best way to stay connected with your favorite performer is to be plugged in to their channels.
REACT
“Like” — or better yet, LOVE — everything they post. Leave a comment, share their content, and tell your friends about them. Don’t wait six months between shout-outs. Support them regularly, as often as you can. Every reaction, share, and comment helps their work reach more people.
ATTEND
Buy tickets to their shows. Eight or twelve dollars won’t break anyone’s budget, and it’s a small price for an amazing, one-of-a-kind experience — a memory no one can take away. When you’re there, be present: stand up, move, cheer loudly, and let the artist know you’re having a great time. Your energy feeds theirs.
BUY
Most artists have a merch table — take a look. Buy a shirt, a sticker, a CD, or whatever they’re offering. More and more, artists rely on ticket and merchandise sales to sustain their craft. Every purchase, no matter how small, makes a difference.
SHARE AND PROMOTE
If you’ve done all of the above, this might be the most important step.
Bought a shirt? Post a photo wearing it.
Took great shots at the show? Share them and tag the artist.
Excited for their next gig? Tell people — online, at work, at church, in line at the grocery store. Invite friends through event pages. Be a volunteer promoter for your favorite performer — they’ll remember and appreciate you for it.
ARTISTS RESPOND
And for the artists — this is a two-way street. Stay active online and in your community. When fans comment on your posts or share your music, take a moment to respond. As the saying goes, “Live your life in the comments.” Personal interaction builds real connection — and that connection keeps fans coming back show after show.
