Hellen Bach Live at the Iron Horse Pub
Larissa Brown and her band brought the party, again
The last time I saw Hellen Bach, it was an outdoor concert at Bud Daniel Park in absolutely sweltering heat and humidity. That was the show where I became familiar with the incredible vocals of the stunning Larissa Brown, the outstanding bass playing of Shane Perry, the wild showmanship of The Animal Chris Hunt on drums, and the skillful practicality of multitalented guitarist Randy Lamme.
Lead singer and star tambourine player Larissa Brown brings the big show every time, and she’s a lot more than your typical club singer. Not only is she a great vocalist, but Larissa is a real rock chick to use the parlance of my day, who keeps your attention when she’s onstage. Larissa has dances and enthusiastic kicks and elegant hand dancing that seem to come out of her without a thought. Sometimes, she’s just straight-up headbanging.
Larissa puts on a show, every time, with the help of her talented band.

Shane Perry always puts on an impressive performance on the bass. Honestly, I cannot hear Muse “Hysteria” without thinking of Shane’s performance of the track, which I have now seen him play twice, and it impresses me every time. Shane’s a bangin’ bassist.

Guitarist Randy Lamme is called upon to handle a wide array of musical selections in Hellen Bach, everything from the Cranberries to modern hard rock to C&C Music Factory, and Randy finds a way to do it all with taste. After watching Randy sweat away 20 pounds at the concert in the park earlier in the summer, I was glad he got to rock out in the downright frigid AC at the Iron Horse this time.

On drums, without a doubt one of the stars of Hellen Bach, The Animal Chris Hunt.
Chris Hunt is a wildly entertaining drummer who’s always standing up, pointing at people in the crowd, twirling his sticks, sticking out his tongue… they call him The Animal for a reason. However, one of the most refreshing things about Chris is, contrary to his stage image, he’s the nicest guy you’ll meet. He came over to introduce himself before the show, and I’ve processed so many of his photos, it was like we knew each other already. Chris is a super good dude and very talented drummer for Hellen Bach.

This particular show was in support of Strange Lucy, who went on to play a great show of their own. It was a pretty full house, too, because most people know, if you have a chance to catch Hellen Bach, the first two or three songs alone are worth the price of your cover. Don’t hesitate next time. Make a trip to Hellen Bach.
