Hannah Belle Lecter Live
A night of enjoyable rock music and singalong songs from six talented musicians
Although Hannah Belle Lecter’s Facebook page describes them as 7-piece band, they were short one fiddle player on the night I saw them, and there were just 6 members onstage at the Iron Horse. This would be my first time seeing Hannah Belle Lecter. I had previously seen two members of the band playing in other places — Ricci Amador as the drummer for James Cook Band, and keyboardist Ian Clark performing as a solo artist — but this particular gig was my first chance to see the rest of them, starting with Hannah Belle Lecter’s beautiful and amazing lead vocalist, Hannah Smith.

Hannah is a really good singer and handles vocal duties with skill and versatility, equally as good at a whimsical crowd participation bit as she is at straight diva wailing. Although the musical style was different, I couldn’t help but be reminded of some of the greats listening to Hannah sing — Aretha and Martha Wash in particular.

Keyboardist, composer, and all-around well-known musical genius Ian Clark happened to be having a birthday on this night, and Hannah pointed out he had the lucky distinction of playing his own birthday song on the keys so the audience could sing to him. I watched Ian for awhile, and not only was he having a great time, he was in the zone on keys and vocals.
Drummer Ricci Amador’s performance catches my eye every time I see him play, and with Hannah Belle Lecter, I was even more impressed. Ricci’s timing is impeccable and his technical proficiency is something to see. In my opinion, Ricci is in the top tier of drummers I’ve seen in Wichita Falls.
On guitars, Hannah Belle Lecter has two very talented musicians, Dustin Fike and Dwight Ham. At the show I saw, Dustin was very active on the mic, even singing a few leads, and Dwight was more focused on smokin’ lead guitar lines.
Throughout the night we were treated to a number of cover songs from some of the all-time great harmony bands (Fleetwood Mac comes to mind on this particular gig) because Hanna Belle Lecter has some great singers in the band.
Not only is he a very talented and rhythmic bassist, Dusty Potter is an excellent vocalist in his own right. When it comes to versatility and musicianship and the ability to put on a show with a full, professional sound and multilayered vocals, Hannah Belle Lecter is one of the best I’ve seen.
If I was in charge of hiring entertainment for a corporate event or a company Christmas party, Hannah Belle Lecter is exactly the kind of band I would be looking for.
