Celebrating Oktoberfest in Muenster
A celebration of German heritage, with music, food and beer
As the unseasonable heat finally broke across Texoma, and the mercury descended to mere 80s and 90s, TheFUSE took a roadtrip to Muenster, Texas for Oktoberfest, a celebration of German food and beer.
Muenster is a town of about 1,500, an hour east of Wichita Falls, and we found their Oktoberfest celebration, at Heritage Park Event Center (301 N Ash St), very impressive. The place was hoppin’, there were a lot of vendors, and the food and beer options were plentiful.
Parking was 5 bucks and admission another 5, but anybody who showed up in Oktoberfest costumes got free admission.

In addition to all the food and beer options, Muenster’s Oktoberfest had non-stop musical entertainment — TheFUSE was present for about half the day, and we saw at least four different musical groups performing in true Oktoberfest fashion, with accordions and lederhosen and polkas galore.

In addition to the ethnic music offerings, Oktoberfest featured a performance by Double Vision, a really good Foreigner tribute band from Dallas. We’re definitely putting them on our list to see again.
