Caught in the Act: Hazel Live at 6th Street Winery
Good tunes and good wine on a Friday night
Wichita Falls singer/songwriter Hazel performed a solo acoustic gig at 6th Street Winery recently and TheFUSE was there to sample the wines (try the Syrah!) and enjoy the soothing sounds of one of our town’s best.
Hazel was the second artist we ever covered at TheFUSE, back when we first started the newsletter in the Spring of 2023, and we were immediately and continually impressed with her voice — a sultry mix of everything from Sade to Dua Lipa — and her subdued, unique takes on popular music. Hazel’s cover of Fleetwood Mac’s “Landslide” stands out every time we’ve seen her perform, and we saw her play a request for Tracy Chapman’s “Fast Car” at this gig, too. You’d be wise to check out one of Hazel’s shows and see for yourself how talented she is.
Hazel is a particularly personable performer, especially in an intimate setting like 6th Street Winery. She has entertaining stories and quips between songs that bring out the laughter, but it’s impressive to see everyone voluntarily simmer down once the music starts. The audience pays attention, because Hazel’s music is worth hearing.
