Cade Roth and the Blacksheep Live on Ohio Avenue
Oklahoma blues rock at the St. Patrick's Day Downtown Street Festival
Hailing from God’s Country — Medicine Park, Oklahoma — Cade Roth brings his band an hour down the road to Wichita Falls frequently, and I had the pleasure of seeing them perform at the Iron Horse Pub in the summer of 2023. At that time, I was very impressed with Cade Roth’s brand of hard-to-classify music… it’s Blues, it’s Southern Rock, it’s Red Dirt Country, all driven by Cade’s soulful vocals and edgy electric guitars.
How fast has Cade Roth’s star been rising? In September of 2023, Cade and his band had 756 monthly listeners on Spotify. As of this writing, six months later, the number is 2,732 — still criminally underrated. Go follow Cade Roth and The Blacksheep on your favorite platform right now before the rest of the world beats you to it. [Apple Music | YouTube]
The Blacksheep we saw perform on this particularly rainy St. Patrick’s Day weekend — including Willie Rivers on bass, Brad “Red” Wolf on guitar, and Ryan Joyce on drums — were a talented, intuitive band that knew each other (and the music) like the back of their hand. Cade Roth and The Blacksheep are a finely-oiled machine.
Cade Roth and The Blacksheep’s single “Dodging Rounds” is available on streaming platforms, and I checked-in with Cade via DM to find out what’s coming up and he said “We have a few new singles coming but it’ll be another month or so. We’ll probably wrap them into an album eventually.”
For further listening, we’d recommend you check out “What’s Left of Me,” and “Memphis,” among others.
