Back in Black Headlines 4th in the Falls Freedom Fest
AC/DC tribute draws a big crowd despite the heat
AC/DC Tribute band Back in Black headlined the 4th in the Falls Freedom Fest at the Wichita Falls MPEC last night, and drew a big crowd despite a heat index that rose to 115-degrees. The Dallas/Fort Worth band performed all the top AC/DC songs, from both the Bon Scott and Brian Johnson era. From their website:
The Back in Black tribute band is an incredible, exciting, high energy reproduction of a concert performance of AC/DC . All the members of Back in Black live in Dallas/Fort Worth area and are experienced musicians not only dedicated to the sound and look, but also capturing the power and excitement of AC/DC.
Per Back in Black’s website, the band consists of vocalist Darren Caperna, Mike Mroz on lead guitar, drummer Paul Brown, Ramiro Noriega on rhythm guitar, and bassist Steven Wilson.

Back in Black has a claim to fame that most tribute bands can only aspire to — when the real AC/DC needed a singer to temporarily replace Brian Johnson on their 2016 world tour, they auditioned Darren Caperna for the role. The story is chronicled in a documentary titled “My Stupid Tribute Band” which is available on most streaming services.
Back in Black put on a stellar performance that, musically, was nearly indistinguishable from the real AC/DC, and it was clear each member has studied their particular role. Mroz has mastered Angus Young’s version of the duck walk, and he performs it frequently during the show, traversing the stage from one side to the other. Caperna has a firm grasp on the moves of both of AC/DC’s lead singers, and the rest of the group has a choreographed method of stepping up to the mic when the time for background vocals comes along. In the end, it’s a lot like seeing the real AC/DC in concert.

If you get the chance to see a Back in Black show, we would highly recommend it.
